Guitar player Tommy Bledsoe was born July 26, 1945 in Scott County, VA. He has performed and recorded with the Home Folks, Wry Straw, Appalshop's Roadside Theater, and Skin and Bonz with his wife Joy D'Elia. He and Joy wrote produced and performed in Winter-Season of Darkness and Light for Kentucky Educational Television. He lives in St. Augustine, FL. Rich Kirby was born July 2, 1943 in Cynthian, KY. He plays banjo and fiddle and is a singer, storyteller and writer. He has produced albums for Appalshop's record label June Appal Recordings, including Been A Long Time Traveling with his ballad singer grandmother Addie Graham, and In the Land of Melody with Wade and Julia Mainer. Kirby also appears as a musician on numerous albums, including Hits from Home, and Twins with Tommy Bledsoe. He has served many posts, including station manager, at WMMT-FM at Appalshop in Whitesburg, KY. He lives in Dungannon, VA with his wife Beth.
Recordings for the 1982 release JA042, Hits From Home, were recorded and mixed by Doug Dorschug, Charlie and Alan Maggard at Maggard Sound Studio in Big Stone Gap, Virginia. The release was produced by Ron Short, Tom Bledsoe and Rich Kirby. Musicians included Tom Bledsoe on vocals, guitar and banjo; Rich Kirby on vocals, mandolin, banjo, guitar and second fiddle; Bill Hicks on fiddle; and Sonny Houston on bass and vocals.
This audio collection consists of 1-inch production master, ¼-inch production masters, ¼-inch preservation masters, and vinyl production masters.
